"Whether I shall turn out to be the hero of my own life, or whether that station will be held by anybody else, these pages must show."
David Copperfield narrates his life from his unhappy childhood under a cruel stepfather to his struggles as a young man and his eventual success as a writer. Along the way, he encounters some of Dickens's most famous characters: the optimistic Mr. Micawber, the deceptively humble Uriah Heep, and the eccentric Aunt Betsey Trotwood.
This was Dickens's "favorite child" and his most autobiographical novel. It is a warm, humorous, and moving story about memory, perseverance, and the disciplining of the heart.
Volume II of 2 — Chapters 32–64.
