The Mystery of Edwin Drood – Charles Dickens

Edwin Drood disappears after a Christmas Eve dinner during a raging storm. His uncle, the opium-addicted choirmaster John Jasper, is secretly in love with Edwin's fiancée, Rosa Bud, and is the prime suspect. The novel breaks off just as the investigation deepens, leaving the identity of the murderer (and whether Edwin is truly dead) an eternal mystery.

Dickens died halfway through writing this novel. It remains the most famous unfinished mystery in literature, sparking thousands of theories and adaptations attempting to solve the puzzle he left behind.
