The Robbers – Friedrich Schiller

Karl Moor, a noble young man, is disinherited through the machinations of his evil brother Franz. In rebellion against society and his father, Karl becomes the leader of a band of robbers in the Bohemian forests. He seeks to fight injustice, but finds that his violent means only lead to more suffering and crime.

Schiller's debut play was a sensation of the 'Sturm und Drang' movement. It is a passionate drama about liberty, rebellion, and the conflict between the heart and the law. It explores the tragic consequences of idealism turning into terrorism.
