The Idiot – Fyodor Dostoevsky par Fyodor Dostoevsky

"Beauty will save the world."

Prince Myshkin returns to Russia from a Swiss sanatorium. He is a man of infinite compassion, innocence, and honesty—a "perfectly beautiful man" in a Christ-like sense. However, his goodness is mistaken for idiocy by the cynical, obsession-driven society of St. Petersburg. He becomes entangled in a tragic love triangle with the dark, tormented Rogozhin and the beautiful, doomed Nastasya Filippovna.

This novel is a tragic examination of what happens when pure goodness confronts a corrupt world. It explores the destructive power of passion and money, and the fragility of the ideal in modern society.
